Enforce tolerances and capture data automatically at the scale

Guide operators through complex dispensing procedures with digital workflows that pull weights directly from connected balances. Enforce lot verification and tolerance limits before the batch moves forward, and capture a 21 CFR Part 11 compliant record without the paper.

WHY DIGITAL DISPENSING MATTERS

Manual dispensing creates compliance gaps you pay for at release

  • Transcription errors create data integrity risks

When operators manually record scale readings on paper or retype them into a terminal, transcription errors are inevitable. Those errors surface later as ALCOA data integrity findings, requiring reactive investigations and delaying batch release.

  • Deviations aren't caught until the batch is complete

Without real-time controls, an operator can proceed with an out-of-tolerance weight, an expired lot, or the wrong material. Catching the error at final QA review means the material is already dispensed and the batch is compromised.

  • Paper verification slows down execution

Relying on a second operator to physically verify and sign off on every material and weight slows the entire process down. It ties up personnel and leaves the operation vulnerable to skipped steps and missing signatures.

How Tulip ensures accurate, compliant weigh and dispense operations

Tulip connects directly to the scales, scanners, and systems at the station to guide operators through precise dispensing routines. Workflows enforce material verification and capture measurements automatically, ensuring the right quantity of the right lot is recorded in an immutable audit trail.

Error-Proof Data Capture

The Scale's Reading Gets Automatically Captured

A scanner or a connected scale feeds its reading directly into the weigh step, so the number in the record is the number the scale actually showed. That connection runs over the same edge hardware that connects any instrument that was never built to talk to software on its own.

Weigh and dispense application

GxP-Ready and Validated

Only the App You Build Needs Validating

Tulip comes validated with every long-term support release, documented down to what changed between versions. Electronic signatures, version control, and approval workflows run on that same validated foundation, so GMP requirements are already built into the platform underneath whatever your team configures for the weigh room.

Review by Exception

Only the Deviations Need a Second Look

A weigh or dispense step that falls outside its target gets flagged the moment it happens, instead of surfacing later as a batch variation nobody can explain. A reviewer spends time on what actually deviated, and a clean run doesn't need a second look.

Dynamic, Real-Time Workflows

Respond to What's Happening Faster

A weigh and dispense SOP built in Tulip can branch based on what's actually happening in the moment, like the material on hand or a reading that just came back, instead of walking every operator through the same fixed sequence regardless of the situation. The workflow gets authored to match your process.

Connects to Your Existing Systems

The Record Reaches the Systems You Already Run

A weigh and dispense record doesn't have to stop at the scale. It connects to the ERP, LIMS, and QMS systems already running your operation, so what happened at the bench shows up where the rest of the business already looks for it.

What leading pharmaceutical manufacturers have achieved with Tulip

See how life sciences manufacturers use Tulip to enforce quality, connect equipment, and eliminate paper batch records.

Paper-to-digital MES in 9 months

NextPharma, a leading CDMO, replaced their paper batch records with a composable digital execution layer. By implementing human-centric apps across weigh & dispense, blending, and packaging, they cut deviations, accelerated release cycles, and ensured strict compliance across their operations.

"Tulip helped us in the beginning as we admitted missing capabilities between our central ERP system and the operators. So it really helped the operators to work on a daily basis and support how our products flow and, ultimately, the quality of the products we produced."

Weigh and dispense software replaces paper-based dispensing records with digital workflows designed for regulated manufacturing. It connects directly to scales to capture weights automatically, verifies material lots against your ERP, and enforces tolerances before an operator can proceed. This ensures the correct material and quantity are added to every batch while generating a fully compliant electronic record.

Tulip connects to scales and balances through Edge connectivity, handling common OT protocols and serial connections. When an operator places material on the scale, the app pulls the live weight directly into the workflow, completely eliminating the need for manual transcription.

Tulip is built for GxP environments. It includes an immutable audit trail, electronic signature controls, and role-based access management. The system captures exactly who performed an action, when it occurred, and what the result was, providing the technical controls necessary for 21 CFR Part 11 and EU Annex 11 compliance.

Tulip connects to ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, and NetSuite through standard APIs. When an operator scans a material barcode at the dispensing station, the app queries the ERP to verify the lot number, status, and expiration date, ensuring only approved materials are used in the batch.

You build the dispensing logic into the app using triggers. The workflow guides the operator through each ingredient in the recipe, enforcing target weights and tolerances at each step. If a measurement falls outside the acceptable range, the app blocks progression and can trigger an alert or a rework loop.

Tulip version controls every app. When a procedure changes, process engineers build a new development version. Through governed approval workflows, the new version must be signed off by designated approvers before it is published to the station. Tulip supports a risk-based intended-use validation approach aligned with CSA, allowing you to validate individual workflows without revalidating the entire platform.
