New problems require new approaches. Students are graduating into an operations environment different from the one in their textbooks. Engineers are under intense pressure to deliver results in a dynamic environment. The next decade of competitive advantage in manufacturing isn’t just going to come from technology. It’s going to come from investing in a workforce that can harness technology to solve the thorniest operations challenges.
We’re bringing together forwarding thinking universities and companies who know that real change starts with the workforce. We work with our partners to develop university-level curricula, deliver on the job training, and build talent pipelines. Together, as an ecosystem, we’ll make sure our current and future workforce are ready to thrive in this foundational sector.

Alexander Albers, Doctoral Candidate and Research Associate
"Tulip shows that MES systems do not have to be complex and can bring tangible benefits with little effort. Our students were impressed by the ease of use and simplicity of the Tulip platform."
Alexander Albers, Doctoral Candidate and Research Associate
In our course, we teach lean production and highlight the role of digital technologies to students in our department’s management education program for working professionals. We integrate Tulip into our assembly line simulation, displaying step-by-step instructions at each station via tablets. Using barcode scanners and custom-designed “smart trays,” we illustrate how this system can handle order-specific variations and collect data for analysis, such as process mining.

Antonio Padovano, Assistant Professor of Industrial Systems Engineering
"With its intuitive, no-code platform, Tulip empowers our students at UNICAL to design and deploy custom applications, enriching their understanding of human-centered industrial processes within the brewing operations of our learning factory."
Antonio Padovano, Assistant Professor of Industrial Systems Engineering
At the LEONARDO learning factory at the University of Calabria, funded by the ERASMUS+ KA220 program, students are using Tulip to creatively develop innovative applications that transform traditional brewing operations into a more efficient, human-centric process. By leveraging Tulip’s no-code platform, students gain hands-on experience with digital transformation, enhancing their understanding of smart factory management. Through the development of these apps, they can monitor real-time production data, ensuring smooth workflows, optimize product quality through digital inspections, and manage inventory to prevent shortages. These applications also allow students to enforce regulatory compliance, providing complete traceability throughout the brewing process, while offering operators intuitive digital work instructions that improve productivity. Additionally, students build solutions to track equipment health, ensuring proactive maintenance for continuous, uninterrupted operations. This holistic approach fosters the core principles of Industry 5.0, empowering students to blend technology and human expertise, preparing them for future roles in industrial engineering and management. At ENSAM, we previously used a traditional MES for teaching, but it lacked flexibility. However, after transitioning to Tulip, we were able to create new features that benefit both students and researchers. This shift has truly revolutionized our approach, enhancing the educational experience and driving relevant research outcomes.
Tulip University offers self-paced courses to master Tulip, explore digital transformation methodologies, and earn valuable certifications—all at no cost.
