Tulip Introduces Composable MES for Aerospace and Defense, Commits to FedRAMP Journey

APRIL 16, 2025 – BOSTON, MA – Tulip, a leader in frontline operations, today announced the launch of its Composable MES (Manufacturing Execution System), designed specifically for aerospace and defense manufacturers. Known for delivering high-performance, secure, and reliable solutions, Tulip is further demonstrating its commitment to the industry by pursuing FedRAMP (Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program) moderate equivalency.

Based on a foundational set of configurable apps, the Composable MES provides an accelerated path for manufacturers to deploy connected, human-centric solutions that suit their unique and dynamic operations. As aerospace and defense manufacturers face stringent regulatory requirements, the Composable MES includes apps for end-to-end traceability and quality management, including calibration, defect management, and CAPA management. With electronic signatures and automated audit trails, manufacturers can demonstrate compliance with ISO 9001, AS 9100, and EN 9100. Tulip has native, no-code generative AI capabilities built into the platform, unlocking data insights and making it easier to build and deploy AI-powered solutions where they are needed.

“The need for agile, compliant, and scalable MES solutions in regulated industries has never been greater,” said Erik Mirandette, Chief Business Officer at Tulip Interfaces. “Tulip’s Composable MES is fundamentally different from legacy systems, delivering unparalleled flexibility and compliance readiness to our customers while enabling them to navigate fluctuating global conditions with greater control and efficiency. Aerospace and defense manufacturers can build composable, connected solutions that enforce their unique SOPs to ensure every product is built and documented right the first time, every time.”

Along with these new capabilities, Tulip kicks off its FedRAMP journey. This initiative will allow customers working with the U.S. federal government to deploy Tulip’s solutions in environments handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and Covered Technical Information (CTI), beyond Tulip’s current offering to host in AWS GovCloud with specific access controls required for US export controls. All of this continues to reinforce the company’s dedication to security and compliance.

Transforming Manufacturing for Aerospace and Defense

Unlike traditional MES, QMS, maintenance, and inventory management solutions that can be rigid and complex, Tulip’s composable platform has already allowed dozens of global aerospace and defense manufacturers to build solutions tailored to the specific needs of their operations — and continually improve them over time. This inherent flexibility allows them to continuously optimize their processes in response to an ever-changing global environment.

“Tulip has helped tremendously in our operations. We've seen a 20% improvement just through our efficiency and our throughput,” said a representative from Skydio, one of the Aerospace and Defense Manufacturers already using Tulip.

With unique, built-in capabilities, Tulip empowers manufacturers to adapt and build powerful systems on their own and without needing specialized coding experience.

  • Right-the-First-Time Workflows - Dynamic, instructive apps guide operators through SOPs for assembly, inspections, calibrations, and machine setup.

  • Seamless Data Capture with Edge Connectivity - Direct integration with scales, torque drivers, printers, barcode scanners, and other equipment enables real-time data collection.

  • Eliminating Silos with System Connectivity - Pre-built connectors for PLM, ERP, and QMS systems reduce inefficiencies and mitigate risks.

  • Augmenting People with AI - AI-driven vision detects defects, chatbots provide instant reference support, and multilingual translations enhance workforce inclusivity.

By leveraging Tulip’s platform, manufacturers can implement CAPA corrections in days rather than months, enhancing efficiency and compliance through an intuitive, human-centric approach.
