Tulip Named a Challenger in the 2022 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)

Tulip is recognized for the second year in a row for its Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision.

JUNE 3, 2022, BOSTON, MA - Tulip, the leader in frontline operations, announced today that it has been named a Challenger in the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). Out of hundreds of MES vendors, Tulip was one of 20 vendors recognized in the Magic Quadrant. In our opinion, the inclusion of Tulip's Frontline Operations Platform is a testament to the market shift towards composable, frontline-driven approaches to MES and operational problem-solving.

“Our customers are harnessing the power of citizen development at scale to drive innovative solutions with humans at the center. Global knowledge sharing combined with real-time visibility across all plants–by line, by site, up through an enterprise-level view–is accelerating continuous improvement at a rate previously unheard of in manufacturing and other frontline industries,” said Natan Linder, Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer of Tulip. “It’s our mission to continue to innovate on ways to provide the frontline engineer with powerful AND easy-to-use tools that support this type of transformation while guided by effective governance models needed for scaling.”

A Gartner Magic Quadrant is a culmination of research in a specific market, giving you a wide-angle view of the relative positions of the market's competitors.

The 2022 report states that:

  • "By 2025, 60% of new MES solutions will be assembled by manufacturers or implementation providers using composable technology."

  • "Vendors are increasing their adoption of PaaS architectures and low-code/no-code app development; some are succeeding in the MES market, often to the detriment of the enterprise vendors that have recently dominated this space."

Over the last year, Tulip has evolved its product, adding further capabilities to fuel global citizen development at scale for enterprises like Stanley Black & Decker, including Workspaces, becoming the first cloud-based, multi-site platform; plugins to increase extensibility via native and custom low code modules; and a 0-RPO option, which is a first for data integrity–all of which is unique to Tulip’s HPA PaaS architecture.

The company also expanded its free course offerings and certifications, adding 15 new courses to Tulip University, and adding 80 new offerings to its library of downloadable, best-in-class applications and connectors.

Customers want powerful, connected tools that are intuitive to use, flexible for their operations teams to update, and that provide a faster time-to-value. We believe Tulip’s capabilities shine in these areas. Tulip has received a rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars in MES, based on the 27 reviews on the Gartner® Peer Insights™ platform, as of June 2, 2022.

Under the headline “Fantastic Digital Manufacturing System That Scales with Your Operation”, one reviewer writes: "The ability to deploy Tulip in a complex manufacturing environment that integrates a backend ERP system in under 6 months is nothing short of amazing. As a cutting edge technology that is growing and improving rapidly, there have been some growing pains but Tulip's dedicated service/support teams have been available around the clock to help mitigate/fix any issues that have appeared."

Agility and time-to-value are challenging for MES vendors that rely heavily on customized, on-premise solutions or are externally maintained and serviced by professional services providers and typically deployed over months or years.

The company is experiencing significant growth driven by an increased market interest in a composable, connected approach to manufacturing operations.
