Manufacturing is Back in Assembly Square

Tulip Interfaces and DMG MORI announce Grand Opening of advanced manufacturing centers

12-April-2022 SOMERVILLE, MA- Tulip Interfaces and DMG MORI announce the Grand Opening of their new office spaces and adjoining showrooms in Assembly Row in Somerville, Massachusetts. The space brings manufacturing full circle, from a former Ford assembly plant to a hub of advanced manufacturing and operational innovation.

The new office will serve as Tulip’s Global Headquarters as well as the Tulip Experience Center for interactive demonstrations. The Tulip Experience Center is a 1500-sqft facility that features 20+ demonstrations showcasing the latest in integrated human-centric technology for frontline operations including robotics, hands-free headsets, computer vision, and edge connectivity. Visitors can explore interactive demos of technology integrations and real-life examples built by Tulip with partners including DMG Mori, Cognex, Wandelbots, Stanley Black and Decker, RealWear, Vention, Formlabs, RexRoth by Bosch, ZeroKey, and Software Defined Automation.

"We're excited to welcome Tulip to Assembly Row and to Somerville,” says Somerville Mayor Katjana Ballantyne. “It's so fitting that a company making software to support the manufacturing industry has moved into one of the centers of Somerville's manufacturing past."

“The growing economic development in the northeast USA makes Boston an ideal location for another DMG MORI subsidiary. Medical, Aerospace, and other high technology-driven companies are increasingly growing or locating in the region. We are inspired by our alliance, the spirit of Tulip, and the City of Somerville. We look forward to further developing our presence in the region and advancing our focus topics of automation and digitization,” says Dr. Keiichi Ota, President at DMG MORI USA, Inc.

On the decision to expand the company’s Somerville footprint, Natan Linder, Co-founder and CEO of Tulip shared, “I have always loved Somerville: Great people and great community. When we were looking for a new site for office space we knew it had to be here in Somerville,” Linder says. “The greater Boston area is a real hub for manufacturing and tough tech in particular. This has been our home since our origins at MIT Media Lab to this grand opening of our new Global HQ.”

As Tulip expands its footprint in Europe with growing offices in Munich and Budapest, the Assembly Row HQ site will be home to the majority of the hybrid-remote team. With plans to add over 100 new employees in the coming months to the greater Boston area, the timing could not be better for opening this new, centrally located office. With over 30,000 square feet of space, the dog-friendly office boasts showers for bike commuters, a production studio, and a state-of-the-art showroom, the “Tulip Experience Center.” Team members have easy commuter access and proximity to the rapidly expanding Assembly Row.
